Zaujala mě tato pasáž v knize Benjamina Kurase “Zakázané ovoce vědění” (2008 Eminent), která skvěle vystihuje i stav ve filmařské branži i mou pozici poté, co mi přítel odpověděl na otázku, proč mě produkce nechtějí najímat: “Jsi moc náročnej.” “Náročnej je snad dobrá vlastnost, ne?” řekl jsem já a pak jsme polemizovali my, kdo ty kšefty neřídí. Viděl jsem ji na presentaci ASC v Sony studios Hollywood. Je to spickova kamera a Alexa se bude ted muset snazit dohnat rozliseni. Tahle SONY ma naprosto nulovej sum i v naprosto cernejch a neskutecnej rozsah. Pomoc Arri muze jen optickej hledak, otazka je jak bude fungovat a jestli to nebude stejna pitomost jako na D21.

Lytro Post-Focusing Photography
This is most interesting dissertation work for PhD from Stanford University about a Light Field Photography. In short a photography where you can choose your focus after you took the picture! It’s done with micro-lenses near the CCD. The trade of is resolution of picture, but you can choose your DOF afterward! I read it briefly and will try to read it more carefully, it’s full of “wizardry” and equations…but a must read for DP to stay on top what is happening with picture, or could happen! I get idea how this will benefit in X-ray photography….
The Great Shootout 2011
I reccomend all to watch this great shootout made by Zacuto, Kesler Crane and members of ASC as is Nancy Schreiber. There is interesting shots about latitude. Check this frame grabs and closely watch the original video on this link. Zacuto Great 2011 Camera Shootout. I must say, that the results for film are little bit off. First you rating the film and digital as 800 and the film 5219 is 500T stock, which suits Alexa cos it is rated 800. Second the latitude in negativ is still higher, when you not pushing or underexposing it as must happen in this shot. Nevertheless the digital cameras working better in low light. Interesting enough, just notice how horrible the Canon’s looks due to compression. That’s for all people trying to shoot a feature with it! And as this is not color corrected check which camera is showing the colors normally and which is totally off. Looking forward more to a problem of Colors and Motion. Při návštěvě Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Science v Hollywoodu v jejich vyzkumnem Pickford Center, jsem byl svědkem několika skvělých přednášek. Ten Commandments for Sci-fi Analphabets
As put together with my non-sci-fi-girlfriend…
1. commandment
Never demean sci-fi. It is not just a fantasy genre, it is closely connected to a culture, religion, attitude, philosophy and worldview. For sci-fi lovers it is dishonor of their beliefs.
4.commandment
Never fall asleep while watching sci-fi. For sci-fi lovers it is the same as falling asleep while having sex or yawning while looking at Le Radeau de la Méduse.
2. commandment
Never mix heroes from Star Wars, Star Trek or Start Whatever. For sci-fi lovers it is the same as confusing Cyrano with Romeo.
3. commandment
Never call Dart Wader Snuffling Robot, even though you cannot remember his name. For sci-fi lovers it is an act of blasphemy.
5. commandment
Never refuse clarification of your poor sci-fi knowledge. For sci-fi lovers person who refuses sci-fi education is the same as an illiterate person refusing being educated.
6. commandment
Never say that you can do without sci-fi. Nobody can live to the fullest without sci-fi.
7. commandment
Never let your concentration be distracted while watching sci-fi. Do not let food, beverages or reading text messages or any other external factors to make you miss an important detail.
8. commandment
Never talk about anything not directly connected to the sci-fi movie being watched, abstain from inappropriate comments, never leave the screen to do chores (except for if you say “I’m gonna finish cleaning those ‘droids“)
9. commandment
Never say that there is too much fight in Star Wars. That is why it is called Wars.
10. commandment
Never disobey any of these commandments.

Wish we had such great and genius ideas for commercials (hey czech ad’s agencies, wake up! your train is leaving, hmm maybe already passed

Nové kamery Sony v CineDigi
Přináším pár fotografii z nových kamer které mají v CineDigi. První je SONY CineAlta 9000 s PL zámkem, 1920×1080, HDCAM SR 4:4:4 RGB záznamem a CMOS čipem o velikosti Super 35mm. Je to solidní kačena.

Druhá novinka je SONY XDCAM PMW-F3K, coz je XDCAM 4:2:2 Full HD 1920×1080!!! Konečně histogram!, schopna 25p, 60i i 50i a 1440×1080 umí 60p a 50p, ale hlavně už žádnej bazmek před objektivem protože má jak PL zámek, tak zámek na Nikony nebo BNCR. Jo a zapoměl jsem dodat SUPER 35mm CMOS CHIP!!!! ISO 800 ASA! A točí to na stejné karty jako Arri Alexa na SXS nebo jak se to jmenuje. Idealní na dokumenty, seriály, music videa…

Horečka DIY pro DSLR
Ano i já propadl tomuto internetovému fenoménu, ale kdo mne nezná myslil by si, že je to nějaka modní a nová věc. Ale jste na omylu, já bastlil různý hlouposti už od mládí a vlastně mě to děsně baví. Akorát nemám ty znalosti jako moji kamarádi inženýři elektro, konstrukce atd., musím si tedy vypomáhat kreativitou a známostmi. Moje maminka vždy dává k dobru historku, když nám zbořili vrata na chalupě za účelem jejich opětovného postavení a tím odkryli náš dvorek do ulice, postavil jsem důmyslné zařízení proti zlodějům z kolíčku na pradlo, placaté baterky, zvonku na dveře a spousty lanek, které jsem umístil do prostoru, který byl ohrožen. Systém fungoval a byl ověřen na poštácích, toulavých psech a vlastních kočkách. Žádného potencionálního zloděje neobjevil, naštěstí. Nebo má drahá polovička, která má několik zábavných fotografii mě při práci všeho druhu. Posledním domácím projektem byl “DBE Systém” neboli Dynamic Boost Effect pro větší výkon topení v zimě. Z důvodu laxnosti inženýra “Lachtana” nebyl dodán mikroprocesorový nákres i přesto, že všechny součástky mám nakoupeny a tak je systém zatím mimo provoz (a do konce topné sezóny zřejmě zůstane, bohužel).
Mno a pak jsou ty pracovní. Zatím vám povím o třech v dalších samostatných článcích. O GlideCamu DIY, o SlideCam DYI a o podpěře na DSLR už jste četly, novinkou je, že to zaujalo Panavision Londýn a normálně nám jeden odvezly, že už mají připraveny CNC stroje a náš návrh zlepší a vylepší. První článek bude asi o SlideCamu, tak se těšte.
