So warm hello from the city that never sleeps. After our issues with flight we landed safely yesterday. Yeah our first take off and flight just turned back above Amsterdam and returned to Prague. Then they were changing some computer and rele, and then, cos they can’t fix it give us completely new aircraft. So after 8 !!! hours of delay we took of to New York and landed just after 22:00 and get to our wierd apartment which smells with fresh toxic paint and its one room with queen bed where I and Leo sleeps and with folding couch where Lenka is sleeping. We trying to change it for something better, but don’t want to loose money we already paid. So it’s not great but not bad as well. Earplugs and my sleeping bag I cleverly took helps out. Still missing one filmmakers badge, hope they will give it us today.

Red One Test
So the test for Red One, we finnished today. We tested and compared the RED Camera with 35mm camera Moviecam with Zeiss HS lenses and Hawk 17-35 Zoom @ Kodak Vision 2 200T and Vision3 500T, Aaton S16mm with the same stock and Sony HD 900R with P+S Technik 35mm convertor and Zeiss lenses again. With daylight scenes, slowmo, interior exposition bracketing, smoke, swords, ladies… well it was very useful and quite fun as well. Hope the result will help other people too. Yes and my friend Jaromir Kalina a steadicam operator came with his gear so we were able to check the RED and stadicam functions.
I need to thanks to all of my friend and colleagues that came for this test and helped me out, Karel Fairaisl (DoP), Jan Jirak (FP), Matej Cibulka (DoP), David Sachl (DoP), Michal Cerny (DoP), Ferda Mazurek (DoP), Michal Krbecek (FP), Adam Stretti, Lubomir, Kremilek (ACE), Sasa Kadlec (ACE) Tomas, Lukas Karvanek, Jordi Niumbo & Jaromir Pesr (from I/O Post), Jindrich Cipera (Vantage), Vaclav Kovarik (Gaffer) & his crew, David Kocar (AD) and of course to brothers Kristofs Igor & Boris for their great hospitality and generosity at Three Brothers Studios. And to all actors and stunt guys. It was great, thank you very much.
The result of that test will be available in 2 or 3 weeks so I will all invite you to screening and will post some h264 video from it here as well.

Final Cut and No Country For Old Men
from Macworld
here has been a lot of talk in the last couple of years about Apple’s hardware triumphs, like the Intel Mac, the iPod and the iPhone. But there is more to Apple than just hardware — one of the unsung heros for Apple is its professional line of applications like Final Cut Pro.
The Coen brothers proved during the making of No Country for Old Men just how influential a Mac and the right software can be during the editing process. The movie won four Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards, including Best Picture. In fact, it is the first movie edited with a completely digital workflow on Mac to win the Oscar.
“They [Apple] made it really easy for us — we cut now much the same way we cut on film [using Final Cut Pro]. It’s hugely faster,” said Ethan Coen.
The Coen brothers aren’t stopping there — they are currently editing Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand in Final Cut Pro 6.0
So hope there will be more stuff done at Apple’s software. Wish to have some bigger money and build little postproduction studio
based on FinalCutPro
